Weight loss isn’t easy. So often I see clients that believe if they “eat less and exercise more” everything will be ok in the end. Well, whilst this is a great start it is by no means all you need to do.
I am currently running a series of talks across Dorset to help people understand the 12 aspects to successful weight loss. To support those talks, I have created this blog to give more detail and inspiration on how small steps can make a huge impact.
The 12 Aspects to Successful Weight Loss are:
This needs to be consistent and realistic. Better to commit to 20 minutes of cardio twice a week for the long-term, than join a gym and go every day but only for a month!
This is vital as part of my Protect and Correct Philosophy and it all comes from eating the right sorts of foods – with huge variety, keeping hydrated and cutting out the things that have no good nutritional value.
So many people suffer with this, but carb cravings can be reduced with simple steps that include protein breakfasts and understanding food labelling. Taking glutamine will also help you eliminate obsessive thoughts about food because it is used as an energy source in the brain.
This is essentially an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the ability of the body to counteract or detoxify their harmful effects through neutralization by antioxidants. Improving your diet will have a huge positive impact here.
APPETITE & HUNGER
Many people are astonished when I tell them you need to have 67 minerals and 8 vitamins a day to maintain a healthy mind and body. Carbs create hunger and so understanding how ‘what you put in’ effects you is vital for weight loss success.
It’s vital to understand how to feed your body at the cellular level as this will help your body cells to become active again so they will be able to absorb the daily essential nutrients and vitamins from foods.
SLEEP & STRESS
This is one of the biggest factors that reduces your body’s ability to rejuvenate and remain healthy – good quality sleep is vital for successful weight loss and well-being.
Insulin resistance increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease and even mental health issues. Excellent nutrition will reduce these risks!
REDUCED CALORIE DIET
The real results of ‘dieting’ come when you reduce calories but increase variety to improve vitamin and mineral intake. Through this blog I plan to provide lots of easy recipes to help you plan your meals (and nutrition!) more effectively.
Gut bacteria helps to neutralise some of the toxic by-products of digestion and discourage ‘bad’ bacteria and yeasts. It also helps to stimulate the digestive process and aid the absorption of nutrients. In this blog I’ll share with you the three key natural ingredients to make you gut a happy gut 🙂
Metabolism is basically all the chemical processes that occur within your body in order to keep you alive. There are many ways to improve it, not least brisk walking for 20 minutes a day.
This is the process of your body’s white blood cells and substances they produce protecting you from infection with foreign organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. However, in some diseases, the immune system triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign invaders to fight off. Only excellent nutrition and well-being can ensure your body knows what to fight.
Feeling overwhelmed? It’s ok. Like I said at the beginning, weight loss isn’t easy. If it were nobody would have an issue with it!
This blog is here to help you learn, understand and implement change… one step at a time. Throughout the next few weeks I will publish posts that talk in more detail about these 12 things and give you great pointers for adjusting your lifestyle to create a healthier, happier future.
